Grimsby Garden Club Plant Sale Success

Saturday, May 30th was a perfect day for the Grimsby Garden Club Plant Sale - sunny and warm.  There were lots of plants for those who came to buy.  Members dug plants from their gardens to share.  Wholesalers and retailers donated plants.

We were very fortunate to have donations from our local wholesalers and retailers.  These make a big difference to the sale and help us raise money for our community endeavours.

Thanks to the following:

Cole's Florist and Garden Centre
Freeman Herbs

Our Plant Sale Is Coming - Saturday May 30 9:00am till sold out (noon)

If you are a Grimsby Garden Club member, you likely know that we are active in supporting and sponsoring activities that will beautify Grimsby gardens.  Our major fundraiser each year is the annual plant sale.  This year it is May 30th starting at 9:00am at the Senior Centre on Livingston Ave. We raise funds in order to sponsor garden-related activities in our community.  These include:

1  maintenance of the Elm Street bed and the Hospital Garden beds

2  sponsoring and planting the Town hanging baskets

3  scholarships for Grimsby high school students registered in a post-secondary horticultural program

4  monthly meetings and workshops with speakers and presenters

5  participation in events sponsored by the Ontario Horticultural Association

6  participation in Grimsby events (e.g.  annual Rotary Christmas Tree Display)

We depend on our members for the majority of plants and items from our members’ own gardens and tools sheds for garden-related items  (e.g. decorative pots and garden tools).  Please consider contributing something to the sale - it would be helpful if you could label your plants and note the flower colour.

Are you a member who has something to give to the sale?   We have a drop off location at Marilyn Cornwell's - 3 Sunnylea Cres AFTER May 17th and BEFORE Friday May 29th.

Or you can bring them to the Senior Centre on Friday, May 29th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
