monthly meeting

Speaker:  Catherine Kavassalis

Topic:  Weird and Wonderful Ferns
Catherine Kavassalis is a passionate gardener and conservationist. She is a member of the Halton Master Gardener group, Co-President of Oakville Horticultural Society and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Royal Botanical Gardens. A scientist, educator and inspirational speaker, Catherine endeavours to stimulate interest and awe in the living world ... and she thinks ferns are awesome! They are the quintessential plant - charming, elegant, graceful, delicate, yet strong and adaptable. Come learn about weird and wonderful ferns from the desert to the Arctic. See the fascinating potato ferns that house ants and the iridescent ferns that glow in the dark. What makes a fern? The answer may surprise you. For your garden or home, there is a fabulous fern for you. Let's start a new fern craze together.
Membership Fees 2017
The membership voted to increase the 2017 membership fees at the September meeting. Single membership is $15.00 and family membership is $20.00 in 2017.  We will be ready at the October meeting for 2017 renewals.
Proposed Constitution Amendment
Two changes to the constitution were proposed by Marilyn Cornwell (Acting Secretary) at the September meeting.  These were supported by the Board, who recommend the membership vote in favour of them. The changes bring the Grimsby Garden Club constitution in line with recent changes to the OHA default constitution.  See the proposed Amendment here. They are also posted on the bulletin board in the Livingston Activity Centre.
The membership will be asked to vote on these changes at the November Annual Meeting.  Please direct any questions to Beth Sommers, our President.
